What should he do?
My daughters fiance was awarded a very large amount of money from a lawsuit against a major auto company over 10 years ago. Since he was under 18 the money was assigned to a lawyer as a trustee until he reached a certain age. The trustee recently informed him that his money is almost all gone. We want to know what his rights are. What should he do? Can the lawyer/trustee get away with this? Thank-you

Contact the Indiana Attorney Disciplinary Commission, website above and your local police department. If your daughter's fiance's (this is already third-hand hearsay, so not the most reliable of information) story is correct, then trustee/attorney has committed a crime and has breached his duty to the boy. The trustee could be liable for imprisonment and for repayment of lost funds, with interest. The Disciplinary Commission can help the young man investigate and may assist in recovery of funds. On the other hand, you might discover the youngster is a habitual liar, so she can release herself from any emotional obligations toward him. In any case, good luck.
