You should go to the law library and read some

chapters on Iowa appeals as well as the Iowa court

of appeal rules.

Know your appellate record - and remember that you

not get a second chance to argue the facts. Appeals

are ONLY for getting "legal" errors reversed. If a

jury found that something did or did not happen,

you will not be able to get an appeals court to

reverse that UNLESS there was no evidence to support

that finding. On the other hand, if a judge gave

a wrong instruction or statement of law, or there

is legal precedent (other cases) supporting your

position on an issue, the appeals court will decide

who is right and can reverse the lower court.
