Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Iowa

On July 17 we visited an attorney to see if we could file bankruptcy. He told us we could file after seeing our income for 6 months. We let him know that they were getting ready to reposess our vehicles. He said let them.We did.Didn't hear anything from them for over a month. We only have had talks with his secratary. She told us our income was too high, that we needed more deductions,so we got another vehiclethat I needed to get back and forth to work. Now on Friday sept 11 she said, we are 300 dollars over to file and suggested chapter 13. HOw can we file that after the repossions have taken place.I feel we were totally mislead, and cast aside by our lawyer.Any suggestions before judgements are taken against us?

I do not understand what you were trying to accomplish here. Bankruptcy is not my specialty but any judgment will be trumped by the bankruptcy whether it is chapter 7 or chapter 13.
