Legal Question in Business Law in Iowa

Can I return a car to a buy here pay here car lot without affecting my credit?

We bought the car in June 2010 and have had nothing, but issues. We have replaced the transmission, front drive shaft, front and rear axles within the first year from having the car. We have put more money into the car then its worth. We had it looked yesterday and they wouldn't even take it as a trade in because it has so many issues. Now it's grinding when I back up. It is a lemon, but not sure what my rights are as a consumer. I talked to a finance company and they told me that it will not go on my credit record in the state of Iowa, is that true?

That is inaccurate. If you owe money to the car lot, and you return the car and cease paying it will end up on your credit report. Of course you have the opportunity to give a brief rendition of your side of the story with the credit reporting agencies but that and two bits will buy a cup of coffee. You should read up on Iowa Code chapter 322G and see if there's any help there-it's the state's Lemon Law.
