Legal Question in Consumer Law in Iowa

I sent this question a couple of days ago but never got an answer so I will try again. about a mon th ago i took our 99 plymouth van to the repair shop to have the air conditioner core replaced at a cost of $620.00. they had to take the dash apart to install it. shortly after that my wife & i were driving & we noticed the upper part of the dash & back by the speaker were cracked. i went to the repair shop & they said it was cracked when i took it in. we bought this van 7 years ago when it only had 36000 miles on it & the dash was in perfect condition when we took it in. they said it was cracked when we took it in & they said they would not do anything about. i told them there was nothing noted on my invoice about existing damage. they said there should have been but there wasn't. they said it was noted on their copy which they only keep for 30 days. since it is my word against theirs & it was not noted on my invoice are they liable for the damage

Maybe. But you say it is your word against theirs. If you want to pay for an attorney and go to court over repairs to a car that has a blue book value of less than $2000, go right ahead.
