Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa

police coersion

My son and two (15yrsold) of his friends broke into a daycare and vandalised. they were arrested at the scene. the officers informed them that if they were corroperative they would get to go home and if not they would go to juvianal jail. parents were not present when this statement was made.i arrived the office informed me of the same thing. i talked to my son in private and informed him that we would give a brief statement, so we could go home and get a lawyer. Mirand was givin. the officer didnt like the statement and again told my son that if we didnt give him information he was going to juvie this happend 2 or 3 times. I got mad and told the officer to stop threatning my son, by this time my son was in tears and despite what i told him he told the officer everything. the statement is patchy from adding things and in mine and my sons hand writing. Q: is this coersion or could the statement state of messness and our testamonies of the officers comments constatute a coersive act by the officers (if i were to seek a lighter charge for the three boys?) (im applying for a public defender soon-don't tell me to get a lawyer)

Re: police coersion

I suggest you talk to the PD when he or she is appointed. Your son does not have a get out of jail free card here.
