Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Iowa

Age Discrimination

I was informed by another co-worker that I was hired because of my age (Older) and not for my qulifications for the job. I had asked the co-worker how did he know this. He stated that he was told by the manager that he was looking for someone older and wanted these current employees to find one. Now I know why during my interview the manager kept on talking about his current employees who are young (24-27) and wanted some older. I got the job but it was because I was Older and not because of my 20+ years as an Mgr. What if anything can I do? There is more to this issue. If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me.

Thank You

Re: Age Discrimination

Yea, so what's the problem?

You seem to lack damages for which to sue.

Is your pride hurt? So what! You got a job and were paid money that (you wish to prove!) you would not otherwise gotten if they didn't 'discriminate'.

There's almost no law anywhere preventing discriminatorily benefitting a class (e.g., older or other disenfranchised groups). Be happy!

And if you were given a management job, that's a key role that you wouldn't have gotten without your age / wisdom and your experience.

That's my opinion, anyway. But I don't practice law in your state.
