Legal Question in Investment Law in Iowa

college fund stolen

My great grandmother started a zero % coupon investment for my college fund when I was born. My father (who is not involved in my life now or ever) was named the trustee many years ago and now is refusing to give me any information on the account. My fear is that the money is gone. Is there any law that prohibits him from using the money without my knowledge? or am I out of luck?

Re: college fund stolen

Your question is a good one and it deserves to be answered along with production of details explaining the fund's existence. If you would like an appointment we may be able to assist you. I will not charge you for the first visit and perhaps not at all, so long as your intention is to use the money for college costs. Is that your intention? What county in Iowa do you reside? I see 50014 being the zip code is for Story County, which is close enough to West Des Moines that you could visit with me.

A letter to your father may be all that is required. Apparently your grandmother is deceased.
