Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Iowa

In June i signed a 6 month lease for a condo with my brother. I acted on impluse when i signed it. Now i realize that i can not affored the rent and i can't stand living with my brother. I would like to know if there is any way of getting out of the lease, and if worse comes to worse and i have no choice and leave my brother hanging does the landlord have the right to come after me. I had a friend tell me that the landlord can only go have the main name on the lease, is that true?

Of course that is not true--everyone who signs a lease is bound by its terms. If the rent is not paid, the landlord will more than likely sue you both. You should contact an attorney to review the lease and to discuss the specifics of your situation.
