Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Iowa

Problem: New President of a non profit association is unable to obtain documents and materials from the past president of our condo association. Past President was in charge of filing the paperwork and required documentation in a class action lawsuit on behalf of our condo associaiton in 2010. I am the newly elected President and she has all documentation regarding this lawsuit. The new board has no evidence that this lawsuit has been filed. The association needs the documentation so that we can meet all filing deadlines. Two memebers of the new board have left over eight voice mail message, went to her house, (could hear her inside) and refused to answer her door. This has been an ongoing situation during her term as President in 2010. The outgoing board has no documention or information as to the status of this lawsuit or knowledge of any claims filed.

How can we obtain the files and paper work belong to the association?

You folks need legal assistance. The first thing you do, review the court filings which are public record. The next thing you do is contact the attorney who filed the petition and go from there, as you are now arguably the client.
