Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas

Custody in kansas

We have had sole custody for the last 5 years. What are some of the most sincere considerations that the judge will take into consideration when reevaluating our custody arrangement? The other parent is asking for joint custody.

Re: Custody in kansas

The judge will have to determine whether a material change in circumstances has taken place which justifies modification of the existing custody order. The court shall determine custody or residency of a child in accordance with the best interests of the child. There are many factors to consider when making this determination. One source of information is the custody statute itself, K.S.A. 60-1610.(a)(2)and (3). You should consult an experienced family law attorney to determine how these factors apply to your situation.
