Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Kansas

Lost My Job

I live in Kansas and was recently laid off from my job. I have since gotten another job but can no longer afford to live in the apartments that I'm living in; due to a pay cut. Is there a way that I can legally get out of my lease?

Re: Lost My Job

If your lease allows it, you may be able to find someone to be your roomate or sublet the entire apartment until the end of your lease. If that is not possible, you may be able to go to the apartment managment and tell them the situation. They may agree to cancel you lease. If you do this, get the cancellation done in writing, signed by someone with authority on behalf of the landlord.

If they will not agree to cancle the leaqse, then you may want to consult directly with an attorney to see if there are any other options for you.

Good Luck
