Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Kansas

Transfer Upon Death

Is there a form for transfering property upon death? Can I do this by myself or do I need to contact an attorney. I want to transfer property to two people upon my death.

Re: Transfer Upon Death

Need to have more information. Yes, wills commonly are utilized to transfer property of a deceased and are favored if u're speaking of real estate. The 'kind' of property (and the extent of your estate) which u wish to transfer is the key to the answer to your question. If u have no will at the time of your death, nor a deed filed for real estate in 'joint tenancy' with yourself and the persons to whom u wish the real estate to go upon your death, then it will be necessary to probate your 'intestate estate' (meaning there was no will). You do need to contact legal counsel for advise re the best method for you. . .ask them about 'Declarations' and 'DPOA for Business and Health Decisions' while u're at it. Get cracking. . .in today's world, u'll save persons responsible for your estate a bundle. Good luck.
