Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

Pregnant and seeking divorce

I am pregnant and my husband left me, and I am wondering how I can speed up the divorce process. He was diagnosed with schizophrenia and he isn't taking his medicine and he is drinks and smokes pot. I don't want my unborn child around this, and I don't want to be around it either. I have a job, but it is only 10-15 hrs./week and I am going to go back to school in August. So, I am trying to make a life for my child, and I need to know how to get a divorce, so that my child is safe from harm. Is there anyone that can help me get a divorce from him, before it's too late. I am also stuck living with him until I can find a place to live. But, I am not having much luck and I just want to get out!

Re: Pregnant and seeking divorce

Call legal aid in the county you are in, or call the Kentucky Bar Association and get a referral to legal aid in your county. You can't finalize the divorce while you're pregnant, but you can start the ball rolling and get temporary motions (ie: Exclusive Use of the Marital Residence) in place pending the birth and final hearing. The Kentucky Bar Associations Tel. # is 502-564-3795. Best of Luck.
