Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

uncontested yet draining my wallet

I left my husband after only 7 months of marraige because it wasnt working out. We had been together almost 3 yrs and things just changed. I have become emotionally involved with another man since leaving my husband, and my husband knows this. He has everything i/we ever owned in the apartment plus ive been putting money into our joint account to cover bills. He is demanding almost $1600 more from me saying he's owed this money by me part of this involves costs from over a year ago which he said i should pay. He constantly brings up the fact that I owe him this as he said im cheating on him, since we havent filed the divorce yet BUT he wants to file uncontested divorce. If we do this can he throw my new relationship into a court? I know that KY is a no fault commonwealth and this is why he wants to speed up the divorce. Also is he entitled to demand all this money from me? I can give more detailed info if required.

Re: uncontested yet draining my wallet

With no children involved, the only issues are

financial - your new significant other is unlikely

to be "thrown in" for any reason which I could

see. In KY, virtually all property accumulated during a marriage

(not during premarital period) is considered "marital

property," subject to "equitable division."

Although the following is an oversimplification,

debts accumulated during marriage are also subject

to "equitable division." Thus, whether he can

"demand all this money from me" is hard to answer.

No more info is necessary unless you desire for me

to represent you in handling the divorce.
