usage name change in Kentucky

Does ''usage'' name change apply (legally) in the state of Kentucky? I am in the process of divorce and I want to go back to using my maiden name prior to the finalization of my divorce. Can I legally do this in Kentucky?

In Kentucky you can petition the divorce to restore your maiden (or former) name as a part of the decree of divorce. Just make sure you request it, and that whoever does the final paperwork puts it in there,

In answer to your question, "can you legally change your last name prior to the finalization of your divorce?", yes you can. However, to change your last name prior to the divorce, you would have to petition the District Court. It is a relatively simple proceeding. However, if you can afford to wait until your divorce is final, you may have your maiden name restored in the decree of dissolution at no additional charge.
