Legal Question in Personal Injury in Kentucky

Find if an Insurance Claim was Filed

I need to know how to go about where and to whom would I inquire regarding an Auto Accident I was involved in 2 years ago, I was a passenger in the vehicle. I contracted a lawyer to represent me and have been awaiting word from him. I have just recently contacted him and he is under the impression that I took my case to another attorney. He left me thinking that someone else may have filed on my behalf because I was a Minor at the time. He stated that he does not have any paperwork. I would like to know if there is a process I could follow to research this for myself. Can you please help? Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Re: Find if an Insurance Claim was Filed

Call the court clerk in the county where the accident happened and have them run your name/DOB thru the computer and see if anything comes up. It's not likely that someone filed on your behalf without a written contract. If you were a minor, it's possible your parent/guardian signed for you, but you would have heard something most likely.

Get the police report and get to an attorney. If you are an adult now, your statute of limitations is running, or may have run by now. You need to have a qualified attorney review your case and give you proper advice. Best of luck.
