Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Kentucky

am I entitled

My fiance of 13 years has recently willed everything to his 5 kids, 3 of which are ours. I have lived with him this amount of time but have stayed home with the kids. He has started a business 10 years ago and at the same time started buying rental properties. He has 12 of them. Even though the will states is kids are to divide all of these things equally and nothing was said about me. Everything is in his name. Am I entitled to anything in his passing.

Re: am I entitled

It is not possible to give you a clear legal answer to your inquiry without a more detailed evaluation of the facts of your case.

Marriage imposes a number of legal responsibilities upon the parties. But it also conveys a number of benefits; one of which is the right to inherit at least a portion of the estate of a spouse.

You chose not to marry this man. Unless he names you in his will, you have no legal right to inherit anything from his estate.

You should not take any action, based upon my advice, without consulting an attorney and explaining all the facts to him. You are best advised to seek the services of a competent Kentucky attorney. You can telephone your local bar association for a referral, or can find a good lawyer on-line at the Kentucky Bar Association's Lawyer Referral Service:
