Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Kentucky

Obligation for deceased parents debt

Unaware that mishaps not caused by me, my mothers application for medicaid was not processed. After hospitalization and then death, and believing that Medicaid and her supplemental insurance would cover hospitalization, we paid pharmacy and burial expenses with her few remaining funds. More than a year later I now recieve a bill from the hospital and have no funds to pay. What should I do?

Re: Obligation for deceased parents debt

If you signed as guarantor for the medical services, then you should see an attorney. If you did not sign as guarantor, then send them a copy of the death certificate and a note advising them that the estate is closed with no funds avaialable for new claims. If the estate went through probate, then they missed their chance to file the claim.
