Legal Question in Banking Law in Louisiana
My father died 3 yrs ago he had a loan which has been auto drafted out of joint checking acct.we went to bank to ask question 3 wks ago,they stopped auto withdraw payment saying it was against law since loan was in his name only?? My Mom has Altzheimers , we have POA and sucession has been done, the bank will not discuss loan with us, loan was not put in sucession, because we had no details about loan....is my Mother responsible for loan?? This is in State of LA?

Community property law states that debts are owed by both. However, the succession is closed and the bank says it is only his debt so may not be collectible.
