Legal Question in Banking Law in Louisiana

My mother died i'm the only child. The Death certificate is not in how can i close her accounts? And if i can't is it illegal to spend the money of hers i do have access to? Thank you for your time.

No. You have to open her succession and place yourself in legal ownership of her property. The bank will not let you touch her accounts even if you have the death certificate. You have to open the succession.

The succession is not hard to do. Generally, it takes a few days to get the paperwork drawn up and then 99% of them can be walked through the courthouse in one day. You don't even have to be there in court when the attorney walks it through.
