My wife was wrongly accused of hitting a car at a car dealership that was servicing my vehicle, the dealership gave out my name, address and cell number. Can they legally do that?

Dear LawGuru Friend,

You do not give enough information for one

to form a good legal opinion on, but the dealer

cannot make untrue statements about your wife,

or even true ones to certain people. Of course, it

has the right to report and accident to at least

its insurance company, and possibly even to the

local police--even though the accident is alleged to

have happened on private property, it still involved

operation of a motor vehicle, If you would like to

discuss this further, e-mail me at [email protected]

and give me more information and you phone number

and name, and will write you back and/or call you and

discuss this matter with you; of course, at not charge.

Sincerely,

Hardy Parkerson, J.D.
