Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Louisiana

reposession

I have a friend who signed as the borrower for a car and her boyfriend was the co-borrower. The plan was for the boyfriend to make payments on the car. However he has skipped town with the car and left my friend holding the bag. He is currently in jail on some other charge. The registration to the car is in both names. Can a judge give her complete registration of the car and have him return it to her because she will be making payments on it? If not, what can she do to get out of this?

The car is insured in her name also.

Re: reposession

If she is co-owner, she can go get the vehicle without anyone elses permission
