Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Louisiana

Can a credit card company who has an account from 2006 place a lien on your car without any court paperwork..? A company called me today at my job stating they was going to garnish my wages and puta lien on my vehicle that is currently financed. The company is called Legal Services of California.

Absolutely not. If they are stating things like this to you, you should begin recording their calls (it is perfectly legal in Louisiana to record your own phone calls, even if the other side doesn't know you are recording them). They may have violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, which is a federal law that makes unscrupulous collection activities illegal and actionable.
