Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana

2nd probation violation

my son violated his probation for the 2nd time, had he did the time for original charges he would have been charged with 12 yrs. If revoked what is a good estimate of time will he get? also even being it's the 2nd time, if nothing comes out of the new charges and he has been doing well on probation will that work in his favor for getting some kind of 3rd chance?

Re: 2nd probation violation

If revoked he faces the number of years the judge suspended at the original sentencing. If 12 years were suspended then revocation would result in 12 years in prison.

Every judge considers probation as a gift or opportunity for the convict. When that second chance is wasted, judges tend to be angry and offended. This is especially true when the probationer commits a new crime. Your son is running out of second chances.
