Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana

Expunge

I have to prepare a motion to have my record expunge in Covington, LA 22 JDC Court. How do I prepare this form. The DA did a Nolle Possed in 2003. No charges were filed for this misdemeanor and it's effecting my job offer potential because it is coming up on my background check. I can't afford an attorney and would like to prepare the form myself.

Re: Expunge

Dear Friend,

Sometimes the D.A. will supply the forms to petition the court to have your court and police records expunged. I know that has been done here in Calcasieu Parish. Also, the local Judges of the Lake Charles City Court will supply the necessary forms for petitioning for an expungment order/judgment. If you will e-mail me your mailing address, I will send you the forms for such. My e-mail address is [email protected]. Also, you can go to the Louisiana Legislature's web-site, by GOOGLING it and then click on Louisiana Laws and in the LOUISIANA CODE OF CRIMINAL PROCEDURE and/or in Title 15 of the Revised Statutes (LA Revised Statures) you will find the black-letter laws on Expungements in Louisiana. Good luck! If I can help you, feel free to call me. No charge for just talking. I am not so easy to catch; but if you call and I am not there, leave a message on voice mail and I'll call you back. Again, good luck!

Sincerely,

Hardy Parkerson, Atty.

Lake Charles, LA
