rehab
my son has a drug problem and needs help since his dad died. can a judge mandatory him to a rehab or a halfway house non volunteer when he goes to his court date. he needs help. he is sick. any advice would be appreciated. mom

If he is placed on probation a condition of the probation can be drug and alcohol assessment and treatment.
It can also be suggested to your son that judges are usually more generous to defendants who voluntarily submit to treatment before sentencing. This has been true in my experience and hopefully will get him into treatment.
