Re: Community property

Assuming you fall under Louisiana community property law, all property acquired during the marriage, AND ALL DEBTS INCURRED DURING THE MARRIAGE, are the responsibility of you and your wife. Giving her "stuff" and having her sign an agreement that you are no longer responsible for the debts she incurred will not protect you from any good faith creditor of the community. If you get sued for a community debt, you will have to pay it and then sue your ex-wife to recover.
