Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

A long delay

i paid for an atty over 2yrs ago, out of that 2yrs wait i have been to court once. i hired him to get a modification done on my child support/visitation matter, by putting the mother of my kids in contempt. my x will not allow my kids to be with me here in virginia where i reside for the xmas holiday. which outline this our court order, this have been going on for the past 2yrs. and the atty still have not filed any type of ppwrk for this modification to put ask the courts for my x to post a bond to secure me in getting the kids. then all of sudden he sends me bill for over $2000 in atty fees i ask for what. there have not been alot of communication going on or alot of phone calls either. i do understand that Family Law courts dockets are back up but is this still a reason not to keep a client informed about what is going on with my case.
