Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Louisiana

computer sale

My brother, who has a tramautic brain injury and is mentally ill, was given a new computer by the state. He really could not use the computer so it was left boxed up in his home. His sitter asked him to sell it to her in the amount of 600 and she would make payments to him. This computer was over 1500. He agreed and she gave him 200 and nothing more. My mother has asked her to return the property since she felt as though my brother was taken advantage of and has gotten no response except the sitter telling her 'a deal is a deal'. This woman obviously made a transaction with a handicapped person unfairly. What action might we take if she refuses to return the property? Can it be considered stolen?

Re: computer sale

I believe that he may not have been free to sell it even if he was mentally sound. Check with the state. They might put pressure on the woman. Also, if he could not use it, give it back to the state for someone else.
