Legal Question in Insurance Law in Louisiana

A person has auto insurance for vehicle #1. He purchases another vehicle from a private owner but is in an accident on the way home before contacting the insurance company (contacted them later that day). No one was injured. What grounds does he have to get his insurance company to cover the accident?

It depends on the wording of the policy on vehicle 1 and whether you were adding a vehicle or substituting a vehicle. If you were replacing an auto on the policy with another vehicle, you usually have coverage for 30 days on the new vehicle. If you are adding another vehicle to the policy, I would have to see th policy to see if it is covers newly acquired vehicles for 30 days. I'd be happy to review the policy for you and give you a free consultation on this matter. If you would like to , please call me at 504-299-3458 and ask for Peirce Hammond.
