Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Louisiana

My daughter moved out of her apartment in August. The Landlord actually purchased condo for her daugher to live in and found 2 tenants. During the 12 month lease the other 2 girls where doing drugs, my daughter temporarily left and lived with my family off and on. She asked the 2 girls to not do drugs while she was in apartment, but the landlords daughter was one of the two girls. Eventually the landlord came and got her daughter to put her in rehab. We asked to be let out of the lease and she refused. My daughter stayed for the term of the lease and we asked for a walkthrough to avoid problems and the landlord refused. Its be 2 months and we still have not received the deposit back nor have they returned any phone calls or emails.

What can we do??

Unfortunately, you will have to sue. You can file in small claims court if there is one or justice of the peace court if a smaller area. You may want to weigh the cost to the return. Be sure to have as much rritten documentation as possible.
