Legal Question in Personal Injury in Louisiana

Wreck van totaled, extra insurance policy on a wheelchair lift. Lift not being included in vans ACV "Actual Cash Value"...

...........................................................................................................................

I was involved in an car wreck 2 months ago (the other car/driver responsible and got ticket) my van was totaled. The van has a wheelchair lift installed. The insurance company only wants to pay me base value on the van and nothing for the 6K lift installed, because I have a separate policy for the lift that I have been paying on for over 5 years.

Am I entitled to get not only my separate policy value for the lift, also have it included in the van's ACV(actual cash value)? Or can I take the lift out and still get paid for the lift policy?

I'm being penalized for paying a separate policy all theses years, and not getting what the whole van's ACV is with the lift included.

-- If I didn't have a lift policy, I would get an extra 3k for the lift value added into vans ACV.

Thanks.
