Legal Question in Social Security Law in Louisiana

Widow Benefits

My dad died 2 years ago and I am wondering how long she can draw SSI, the social security told until the youngest child turns 18 and finishes high school, while different people, none who are attorneys, say she can draw until she remarries. Who is right?

Re: Widow Benefits?

They are both (almost) right. The reason you're getting 2 answers is because there are 2 programs. Your mother may be receiving benefits for herself and/or for the minor children. You may wish to check the ssa.gov site for more info

Re: Widow Benefits

I presume you are talking about your mother. She can receive her benefits until she remarries. The children receive their benefit until they turn 18 whether or not in school.
