Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana

Confused about what to do

My mother in law passed in December 2000. At this point no petition has been filed for succession or anything !! The mortgage and the utilities are still in her name but we are paying the bills. What should be done? We don't know what the legal ramifications of his less than honest siblings could be? We also want to know my mother in law was married twice there are two children from her first marrraige. The house was purchased from second marraige. There was no succession filed after his death in 1980.

Re: Confused about what to do

Her children should open a sucession for your mother in law. I would only do this if she had some assests that are worth a fair amount of money or if you plan on selling the house.

You should call an attorney and set up an appointment.
