Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana

Forced Heir, We are confused.

1993-My husband's daughter adopted by her step-father in Mississippi.

Present-We now live in Louisiana. Just found out about Forced Heir law. Is this absolute? Can the child be disinherited?

Thank you in advance.

Re: Forced Heir, We are confused.

If the child is over 23 years old and not disabled she can be disinherited easily. If she is still a "forced heir" it still can be done but there must be grounds for the disinherision. Either way, contact an attorney who can properly draft a will to cover this issue.
