Car accident while on a business trip out of state

Rented a car on a business trip, did not get the rental insurance, and was rearended. The insurance company of the other car is not paying because the driver was not the insured, it was his brothers car. Should the company I work for be liable for the bill (the rental company is holding me liable for the rental cars repairs, $1900)?

Re: Car accident while on a business trip out of state

First, the at-fault insurance company is liable UNLESS the driver was an excluded driver. Secondly, your personal car insurance carrier covers you in this case as well. However, even if the at-fault insurance company does not cover it, the driver and the owner of the car are liable. Finally, your company's insurance may cover it since you were in the course and scope of your employment.
