Legal Question in Personal Injury in Maine

automobile accident caused by garbage truck

I was recently in an accident due to

a recycling truck on opposite side of

rd heading opposite way of me

crossing street to pick up

recycables..I got rearended by

someone going 5omph due to me

having to stop for them to cross the

street to pick up recyclables..was it

legal for them to do so?

The actions of the recyclers was legal, even if you feel they should have waited for you to pass before crossing the street to collect. The issue may more so be that their actions were negligent, and if that is the case they would be a contributing party to your damages. The car behind you is the primary wrongdoer as they should drive at a safe enough distance to be able to stop suddenly and not hit you, regardless of why you stopped.
