Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Maryland

We are a subcontrator company. We were asked to do a job at a home for verizon, have it billed to verizon, after verizon spoke to home owner who told homeowner to cut tree down. SEA Cable Inc cut tree down. Went to turn in work invoice and it was rejected and company is out 4500$+. Now we need to collect the funds for the job and have been told by verizon that they are not paying the bill that the homeowner was not told they were going to cut tree down. I am secetary for company and was told by our contrat company to "cut trees" when meeting with homeowner they would show us were work was to be done. due to the fact that had to have homeowner open area so that work could be completed.

where do we go from here?

Consult with a Maryland litigator about the specifics of your case. He will want to review contracts, invoices, emails, phone logs, etc. Litigator will likely want to send a demand letter to Verizon for the amount owed with a time limit for Verizon to respond. If Verizon refuses or fails to respond, litigator may discuss filing a small claims type action to recover the funds. If your company does not have the funds to pay a litigator an hourly fee, ask the litigator if he will be willing to take the case on a contingency fee basis (which means that the litigator only gets paid if you get paid).

Best of luck.*****The above is for informational purposes only and does not create an attorney-client privilege.*******
