Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
2nd deg assault Plus
I own a small store, While working there, my nephew barged in and Threatened me, I warned him 7 times to leave and did not lose my cool. Then he attempted to come around the counter and grab me. My ONLY defense was to hold up a chair and try to lead him out of the door, Well He said I hit him with it, and I spent a day in jail for trying to protect myself. I was terrorised and do not understand when Trying to protect my self and my store. I am wrong??
He threatened to kill me and burn the store down. His father followed suit about 1 hour later. I was told that I should not press charges and that they will have theirs dropped I really feel bad! Help me make a decision on what to do PLEASE!! I have no prior record and am now afraid of doing anything at all! I have no money at all for a lawyer due to a recent medical issue that has left us broke!Please help me in this matter. Thanks.

You should talk to a lawyer. My general advice is to file charges when you have been assaulted, which you were.
