Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland

Travelers check Fraud

My friend got areested today for trying to use a fake travelers check at a place she used one before. The amount of both checks equal $1000.00. I was wondering what kind of time she is looking at? And what she will be charge with? She is a first time offender.

Maximum penalty is 15 years in jail. Have your friend talk to a criminal defense lawyer, like myself. Most will give a free initial consultation.

Re: Travelers check Fraud

This could be charged as a theft scheme or felony theft. Her possible sentence depends greatly on where she was arrested, the judge, and of course, her defense lawyer. She should consult a lawyer about these charges immediately after she gets paperwork. Don't wait, because there are many defenses that are waived if you wait too long!
