Child Support

My father has a court order to pay child support. I am now 22. He has been awarded money from the home of my deceased grandmother. He has to pay the back child support money to me first. Will the money be in the name of my mother or in my name since I am now an adult??

Support is paid to the parent and, where support was not provided through a legally enforceable instrument, the child may bring an action against the custodial parent.

Probably your mother if it was being paid through the court, or it could be paid into a court fund and then disbursed. Child support is paid for the child but to the custodial parent. She, not you, provided the support, at least theoretically.
