Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

child visitation

For weekend visitations of my child to my home do I need to have a separate bed for him?

He is 3 years old.

Do I need to provide him with his own room?

Re: child visitation

I know of no requirement that you maintain a separate bed or room for your three-year old. Is there a stipulation in your visitation agreement?

Re: child visitation

There is no legal requirement for a separate bed OR separate room under Maryland law. Sometimes such requirements are agreed to as part of parenting plans/settlement agreements, however. Moreover, if the child is of a different gender, after a certain age the court would frown upon sharing a bed with the child during all visits (as opposed to the child coming to bed during a thunderstorm, for example). So unless there have been any previous allegations of child abuse, you should not be discriminated against in your custodial or child access rights simply because you do not have a separate bed or bedroom for the child.
