Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

I live in the state of Maryland and may have to relocate. I have sole custody of my 6 year old son and his father has visitation only. Do I need his court permission to move?

You will need to obtain the Court's consent before you move, not the father's. Of course, if the father consents, it will make matters easier. I would strongly recommend that you try and work out a new visitation arrangement (if the current one will no longer work when you move) with the father BEFORE you go the Court. If you go to the Court as a united front, it makes things easier. If you cannot get on the same page as the father in terms of visitation, you will have to let the judge decide.

As always, I STRONGLY recommend that you hire a Maryland family law attorney to discuss your options and assist you. Best of luck.
