Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

How do I become my mother's legal guardian. My Mother had a severe stroke and resides in a nursing home now and is diagnose in competent. However, she has a husband that's illierate, which means I sign all her medical forms as well any other legal document.

You will have to file a petition for adult guardianship in the circuit court of your county. You can request to be appointed guardian of your mother, of her property, or both. This is a somewhat complicated matter and you should seek assistance from an attorney familiar with the law and procedure.
