Can a wife force a husband to sell the house they live in?

No, but if there is a divorce in process, a judge can order that the property be sold so that the equity if any can be distributed to the parties. Or if there are sufficient other assets, as part of a general distribution of those assets in a divorce, the house could possibly be transferred from one spouse to the other. If there are minor children, the spouse who gets custody could be allowed to stay in the house with the children for up to 3 years after the divorce.
