Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland

My child wants to cut off contact with me for some reason. A little while ago I sent my child an email and got a reply like this Dont contact me. Any future contacts will be saved and considered as harassment. I will sue you to the full extend of law. My question is, does my child really have a ground to sue me for trying to contact?

You left off a key piece of information --- the age of your child.

If your child is younger than 18, the court can dicate the extent of contact through a custody/visitation order.

If you child is 18 or older, he or she can dictate the contact, if any. If you don't respect that decision, he can apply for a restraining order. If there is some conflict beween the two of you, it is possible another family member may be able to smooth it over. However, unwanted emails and phone calls may get you into legal trouble.
