Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland

can I get the ring
I was stationed in England for about 3 and a half years. I met a women about 3 months before I left and we decided to continue the relationship even though I went back to the US. When she came to visit me in the US(Maryland), I asked her to marry me and gave her the engagement ring. Now we are not getting married and I want the ring back, but she is keeping it out of spite. what I want to know is that, if I am legally entitled to it, and if so, what could I do being that she is a UK citizen and I am an American citizen.

I can't answer the question as to the law in the UK, which would be the appropriate jurisdiction, but not here in the US.
