Legal Question in Health Care Law in Maryland

I had to get some tests done on knots in my stomach. On the day i was suppose to get the results i didn't go because it was early enough for my mother to go with me, and i didn't want anyone to know the results. My mother and I have the same doctor. She went to her appointment the following week and came home with two copies of my test results. I never gave the doctor permission to give out my information.

You do not indicate whether you are a minor. Privacy laws, including HIPAA, strictly limit the sharing of confidential information but they do not prevent a legal guardian from managing their child's medical care.

This general information does not make the responder your attorney and shouldn't substitute for getting specific legal advice on your particular situation. The details of your situation may affect how the law applies to you.
