Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Maryland

Internet Privacy Violation

I populated a new website with the first names, middle names, last names, home addresses, home phones, cell phones, work phones, and email addresses of six individuals, who publicly slandered one of my dear friends with a website. I made my site in the same style as their website, as a defense, against the attack, on my friend.

My website contains the indication, that their method of conflict resolution, by way of character assassination, is not nice or acceptable. I urged relevant parties who accessed my website to contact the slanderous offenders and encourage them to take down their slanderous website. In turn, I agreed to dismantle my website, which exposes their identities that are otherwise protected behind alias names, on their website.

They did not like my site and they accused me of breaking the law by publishing their information that I listed above. I live in MD and the people whose info I posted live in PA, TX, CA, and NJ. Please advise me. Thanks.
